Sapiens International Corporation N.V. has launched SapiensAIP, its AI-native Autonomous Insurance Platform. The SaaS product embeds agentic AI directly into insurers’ core policy administration systems.
SapiensAIP extends the company’s existing insurance software with agentic tools across underwriting and policy administration. It also covers billing, claims and customer engagement.
The platform uses three operating layers. A persona-based experience layer manages user interaction, while an intelligence layer runs agentic workflows. A foundation layer draws on more than 40 years of Sapiens insurance knowledge.
Sapiens says this insurance-specific foundation gives AI agents the business context required for operational decisions. It also supports separate data migration and configuration hubs. Those hubs process insurer requirements and legacy files into executable scripts and load-ready extracts. The system maps and validates the output, while preserving reversibility and human review throughout each transformation.
Mike Ettling, Sapiens executive chairman and interim CEO, said the company designed SapiensAIP around autonomous insurance operations. He described the architecture as a shift away from adding AI onto older core systems after deployment.
Sapiens also named Continental General as the first customer evaluating SapiensAIP. The Austin, Texas-based third-party administrator works across life, annuity and long-term care insurance.
Continental General also operates as a stock life, accident and health insurer. It is testing SapiensAIP as a way to onboard books of business faster and at lower cost.
Ayanna Burns, chief transformation officer at Continental General, said the company wanted AI embedded inside its core technology rather than attached separately. As a TPA serving several carrier clients, Continental General needs software suited to different programmes and shorter implementation cycles.
The company is testing the SapiensAIP Configuration Hub and Migration Hub against live operational workflows. Burns said early results point in a promising direction.
Legacy system conversion remains a lengthy process for many insurers. Sapiens designed the Migration Hub to automate major parts of transformation work, including mergers and acquisitions.
Agent groups handle four migration stages: profiling, mapping, validation and data extraction. Legacy files enter the system in their existing formats, removing a separate reformatting step.
The Migration Hub analyses historical data and recommends mappings into the replacement system. Each recommendation receives a confidence score for review by the customer’s subject matter specialists.
SapiensAIP Configuration Hub applies a similar model to system configuration. It reads documents across different formats and maps information into corresponding system fields.
AI performs much of this work in the background. Teams review confidence scores before approving proposed configuration changes. The system also records an audit trail for each decision.
Paul Wheeler, Sapiens CEO designate and board member, said the platform is intended to move insurer AI projects into live production faster. He pointed to Continental General’s use of the migration and configuration tools as an early example.
According to Wheeler, the approach targets shorter implementation timelines and lower transformation risk. Sapiens also expects insurers to measure AI returns directly inside their main insurance systems.
Sapiens develops SaaS insurance software for more than 600 insurers across over 30 countries. Its products support property and casualty, life, reinsurance and specialty business. The company’s software also covers workers’ compensation and finance operations. Agentic workflows operate across policy administration, underwriting, claims and reinsurance, alongside decisioning and compliance functions.
