Insurtech Zebra to integrate Muse AI assistant into insurance shopping
  • The Zebra has announced an agent-to-agent integration with AI personal assistant Muse, allowing consumers to transfer insurance policy details and documents without repeatedly entering information.
  • The integration will enable users to enroll in The Zebra’s automatic insurance shopping feature, which monitors carrier rates daily and alerts customers to potential savings.
  • The Zebra says its AI integration will protect consumer data by restricting information sharing with insurers until users actively select and interact with a carrier offer.

The Zebra has announced plans to integrate its insurance comparison platform with Muse, an AI personal assistant, allowing consumers to share existing policy information automatically and receive personalized insurance quotes without repeatedly entering their details.

The agent-to-agent integration is designed to simplify insurance shopping by enabling AI assistants to retrieve relevant information from connected user documents and transfer it directly to The Zebra’s agent harness.

Consumers traditionally need to locate insurance documents and manually provide information about their address, vehicles and existing coverage when comparing policies.

Through the Muse integration, personal AI assistants will be able to extract policy details and declaration pages, reducing the amount of information customers must enter themselves.

The Zebra also intends to extend this capability to other AI assistants in the future. “People are already asking their AI assistants to help with everyday tasks, and this now extends to how people are finding ways to save on insurance,” said Daniel Herrington, chief AI officer at The Zebra.

The integration will also support insurance shopping beyond an initial policy comparison. Consumers will be able to instruct their AI assistants to enroll them in The Zebra’s automatic shopping feature, which monitors insurance carrier rates daily and alerts customers when potential savings become available.

We want to meet consumers where they are and make the process as easy as possible. With Muse, instead of searching for documents and entering the same information again and again, they can share their details with The Zebra once and go directly to personalized comparison results.

The service is intended to help policyholders identify opportunities to reduce insurance costs without having to initiate new comparisons manually. Rather than maintaining the same policy without regularly reviewing alternatives, customers can receive notifications when changes in carrier pricing create potential savings opportunities.

Consumer privacy is another element of the planned integration. The Zebra says information transferred between a personal AI assistant and its platform will not be shared with insurance carriers unless the consumer actively selects and interacts with a specific carrier offer on The Zebra’s website.

The technical arrangement is also designed to separate automated information exchange from advertising activity.

AI agents using The Zebra’s Connector will communicate directly with the platform’s data harness without generating visual advertisements or carrier placements during the process.

Those advertising impressions and placements will occur only when consumers reach the final comparison results page.

The approach allows AI assistants to handle information retrieval and transfer in the background, while consumers retain control over which insurance offers they choose to examine.

The Zebra has operated for more than 10 years, providing insurance comparison services, digital tools and access to licensed insurance advisors across the United States.

Its services are intended to support consumers throughout their insurance needs rather than limiting the relationship to a single policy purchase. The planned Muse integration will extend that approach by connecting automated insurance comparisons and ongoing rate monitoring with the AI assistants consumers use for everyday tasks.
