Philipp Kampshoff – Senior Partner in McKinsey’s Houston office
Dr. Philipp Kampshoff is based in the firm’s Houston office and leads the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility in the Americas and its work in mobility disrupters. He has been with the firm for the past decade. He is a core member of McKinsey’s global Automotive & Assembly leadership team and serves clients along the entire mobility value chain, ranging from automotive suppliers and OEMs to distributors and retailers. He also works with investors and companies from adjacent industries to help them capture opportunities arising from major mobility trends, such as autonomous driving, electrification, shared mobility, and connectivity.
Against this backdrop, Philipp regularly convenes chief executive officers, board members, and government representatives in driving sustainable-value creation within the mobility space. Philipp has authored several publications on the future of the mobility industry.
Examples of his client work include the following:
- helping a global automotive supplier make step-change improvements in margin, growth, and cash flows, requiring a comprehensive transformation of all aspects within its business
- supporting the business building and scale-up of an automotive disrupter in the electrification space
- assisting major cities in defining their mobility strategies to improve the availability, affordability, efficiency, sustainability, and convenience of transportation
- providing support on large acquisitions and subsequent merger integrations in the mobility space over the past several years
Prior to relocating to the United States, Philipp worked closely with mobility companies in Europe and China. He earned his PhD at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany and studied business administration in Singapore, Argentina, and Germany. Philipp is fluent in German, English, and Spanish.
